Sunday Post #2: My Addiction to Book Subscription Boxes

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

sunday-postThe Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

I might have a slight addiction…

No, it’s not iced grande mocha’s from Starbucks (it used to be but I kicked that habit cold turkey), it’s even better than that! Book subscriptions! So let me get on with it…

Hi, my name is Aleen and I have an addiction to book subscription boxes. It all started last year when I entered a contest to win a Bookworm Box. I want to say it all went downhill from there.

I signed up, tried it, tired of it and moved on to another one. Or two…

So now, the mailbox fairy brings me my Uppercase Box and my Ever After Box. Okay, I know what you’re thinking, “Dang girl that is an expensive habit!”

Why yes it is… *sigh* I’m just testing the waters, so to speak. The good thing is that you can cancel anytime you want! (I kinda sound like a junkie now). Anyways, let me show them off to you, along with the other goodies I received this week.

Uppercase Box on the left is a YA subscription box that comes with one signed book and various swag. Ever After Box on the right has a theme every month (always romance) with lots of goodies. Books were autographed. This month’s theme was Regency and I loved it!

I love book subscription boxes, too, Aleen! I subscribe to two for the moment :O The Bookworm Box and My Bookbox. I love the Bookworm Box, because the proceeds go to charity, and I get two signed books every month 🙂 You’re welcome for a nudge towards yet another box 🙂

Haha…I feel you on the addictions. I don’t have that same one as I like a bit more control over the books that I buy, but I do get it. Hope you enjoy your new books!

Those book subscription boxes are totally awesome! I bet it’s hard to find the right one so you shouldn’t feel bad for one second that you spend your hard earned money on monthly presents for yourself. Heck, before I had a kid, I got myself presents all the time!!! Now all my present money goes to him 🙂 I have heard good things about the Uppercase boxes.

Have a great week!!!

If I could afford book boxes, I’d totally sign up for some! It seems like so much fun getting surprise books in the mail, especially those boxes that have themes and come with other little swag stuff. But then I’m also super picky about books, so maybe it wouldn’t be as much fun as I think lol.

I’m scared to try a book subscription. I’m afraid I’ll get hooked like you. I already have so many books. I am also nervous I will get books I won’t enjoy. I’m very picky about the books I read.

I have a lot of books as well, but it’s never stopped me lol

Those book subscription boxes always sounds so fun, but it would costs too much to have them ship here probably. Maybe one day I can afford to give one of them a try. I do like how they contain books and other things as well. Your boxes pictures look great! I hope you have fun reading the books. Have a great week!

I haven’t subscribed to any of the bookbox ones but I’ve seen lots of people raving about them. If I were to try one I might go with the YA one- it would be fun to be surprised by a new book every month. I can see where it might be a bit addicting… 🙂

LOL, we all have our addictions. I must admit the Ever After Box sounds appealing. I have an audible membership and Amazon Prime, and Netflix…ooh and my newest Plum Deluxe tea so they all add up too.
