Sunday Post #9: Weekly Re-Cap & Giving Thanks

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

It’s officially cold here in TX, but I’m not complaining; it won’t last long for sure but at least it will be pleasant from now on.

I can’t believe Thanksgiving is next week. No big plans here, just an intimate dinner with the in-laws and that’s about it. All I can say is that I’m thankful for the continued good health of myself and my family.

Staying home for Black Friday as well, tried it once and felt it was not for me. I’m not that crazy about fighting over something that’s on super sale.

As I’m writing this I’m getting ready to go to The Nutcracker Russian Ballet performance. I’m so excited since this is the first time I’ll see both.

I received a paperback copy of Congress of Secrets by Stephanie Burgis from my win on Kimba’s website 🙂

None this week.

It’s been pretty cold here too a few days, it’s going up a down a bit. It’s been nice to wear some of my warmer sweaters for a change. I hope you had a fun thanksgiving! I think I would rather shop online than go out there, but we don’t have black Friday here, although it does seem more and more stores are trying black Friday sales too. The book you won has such a lovely cover! I hope this week is a good one so far!

It’s cold here too, well, cold for me, but I *am* complaining, haha. I want my hot weather back!

I won’t be going out for Black Friday either. I think I may have gone out once or twice as a kid with my mom, but it’s never been my thing either.

Ooh the Nutcracker ballet! How awesome! I got to see one Nutcracker ballet performance as a teen. You’ll be back by the time you get my comment, so how was it?!

A low-key Thanksgiving sounds good. Obviously we don’t celebrate it here but I’m on big on festive stuff and am still hoping for a low-key Christmas.

I’m not a huge ballet fan but have seen The Nutcracker a gazillion times. I saw professional ballets when I used to go with my SIL and niece and then my niece (as she grew up) danced in various versions a number of times. It seems to always be popular at Christmas time!

It got cold here too- 30’s and snow (not much, but enough to remind that winter is coming) and even hail. Yikes. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving. I’m looking forward to the long weekend. and the Nutcracker Russian ballet- enjoy!

Congress of secrets looks interesting!

This is the first time I’ve visited. I really like your graphics, like the lampshade and the cord.

Nice discussion of spoilers. Sometimes it’s hard to do an in depth review without revealing something besides what’s in the jacket blurb. Do you think saying the review has spoilers right at the top of the post is sufficient warning?

Happy Thanksgiving! Black Friday is an event I love avoiding. I don’t like shopping in crowded stores any time, but especially not on such a big day.

I may search for Black Friday deals on Amazon, however.

Thanks for sharing, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

It’s finally cold here in Alabama too. You won’t catch me complaining either, because I too know that it won’t last and I actually wish that it would. I am a former New Yorker, and still can’t find that holiday spirit without a little bite in the air. I know that you will have a nice time at the ballet. I hope you tell us all about it. I have been The Nutcracker a number of times, but have not seen it performed by the Russian Ballet, although I have seen them perform. They are among the best in the… Read more »

I’m having a quiet Thanksgiving at my parents’ place. We’ll probably put up the Christmas tree at some point and on Black Friday I’m planning to watch the new Gilmore Girls miniseries on Netflix. I hate shopping crowds. I may do some online shopping if there are good deals 🙂

Last November, my sister and I took our mom to see the Moscow Ballet perform the Great Russian Nutcracker. It was wonderful. My mom loved it and she’d never seen it before even on TV. I hope you have a wonderful time and a great Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your new reads!
