Sunday Post #18: The World of Spam!

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

sunday-post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Okay, I need help. Jetpack is pretty good at blocking spam comments, but some do slip through. Many of you have that extra box to check when we leave comments to prevent spammers. How do I get one of those? I don’t really want a captcha or added step, just one box click and that’s it. Just curious, as I couldn’t figure out how to do it myself.

It seems to me that ever since I installed commentluv, the spam went through the roof! I do like that plugin though, because it’s easier to return the favor and visit your blogs. 🙂 Has anyone (who uses it) have that problem as well?

Anyways, I’m finally home sweet home. After the long drive from TX to MI and back again, I don’t want to travel for a long time. I’m still a little shell shocked over the loss of my dad, but it is slowly getting better. My mom is staying with us and it seems her spirits have lifted a little bit as well. So far, this year started off badly. I just hope it gets better.

Visit From The Mailbox Fairy

I had a bunch of mail that I came home to and honestly it was like book heaven. I totally needed to open all those packages filled with goodies. Here is what I received…

I’m super excited about the new Amanda Quick book!

Kristin provided the correct info. You can download G.A.S.P for free. I bought premium CommentLuv so that everything I wanted from commenting to replies was in one plugin.

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad… *hug*

That button that some people have and I think I have (??) is called G.A.S.P. and it’s part of CommentLuv. It took me forever to find it and in the end, I had to pay for it 🙁 They have sales all the time but do some research and double check what I’m saying. It’s been a while since I added it. There may be another plug-in that does the same thing by now.

Sorry, can’t help with the spam thing as I don’t get much :-/

I’m glad to hear things are slowly getting better. I’m sure it’s tough. But at least you’re home now and have some great looking new books to keep you busy 🙂

I know the people who have that extra “check here if you are not a spammer” box use an additional plug in. I can’t remember the name of it because I tried it and it didn’t work right for me (I’m technologically challenged!).
Glad you are home safe and had some book mail to cheer you up.

There are plugins that adds that extra line and it helps a lot for spam. That part is called growmap anti spambot if I am correct there are multiple plugins out there which use it. Sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. Must be nice to be home again after that traveling. Nice haul! Enjoy your new books and have a great week!

So sorry to hear about your father. It’s wonderful that you and your mother have each other. Glad you made it back safely. My brother is driving down from Michigan as we speak. He’s got a condo and drives back and forth every few weeks. Hopefully he’ll bring some warm weather this time. Last trip the freeze followed him down.

I do hate the “traveling” part of a trip…I would love to be teleported to my destination, with the bags packed by someone else…LOL.

I drove eleven hours one way in August to visit my youngest son…stayed two days, and then made the trip back. Exhausting! But it was good to visit.

Murder, Curlers & Cream looks tempting. Enjoy! Thanks for sharing, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

TX to MI is a long way (I’m in Michigan). Glad you made it back safely. My dad passed last February (in fact the anniversary is coming up) and it’s hard. Lots of best wishes to you and your mom going forward.

Looks like some good new books.
