I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
By day, bashful wallflower Emma Duffy works at her family’s bed-and-breakfast. By night, she secretly pens erotic romance hot enough to melt the snow in their cozy Rockies town.
But Emma’s real life is about to heat up when her mother books the entire inn to a professional snowboarder, hoping the publicity will put them on the map. In a karmic twist of fate, that guest is Wyatt Lawson, the man with whom Emma had shared the secret one-night stand that became the inspiration for her novel and its dreamy hero. Worse, a film crew is documenting his comeback just as her debut is about to hit the shelves. Emma’s only saving grace is that Wyatt doesn’t remember her—and hopefully he never will.
When Wyatt arrives in Sterling Canyon for several weeks of intense training, the last tumble he expects to take is falling for a girl, especially one as shy as Emma. Unlike groupies with their hidden agendas, she isn’t using him—or so he believes…until the film crew uncovers Emma’s pen name and steamy novel.
Wyatt’s comeback run can withstand a fall or two, but can his heart recover from this crash and burn?
Another great installment to the Sterling Canyon series! Unexpectedly Hers by Jamie Beck brings sweet and naughty to the mix and made me crave honey in the most unconventional way, but you have to read to find the book to find out why…
While I’m thinking about naughty…
I think Unexpectedly Hers was unexpected….in a good way! The author sure wrote the perfect balance of character growth and scenes full of hot sexiness. I mean, really! Emma’s and Wyatt’s romance sizzled!
She’s got a secret…
Emma is probably my favorite heroine from the Sterling Canyon series. Not only because she has an interesting back story, but her secret was totally fun! Shy by day, kinky by night or should I say kinky by writing? Well, by night is right too. However, maybe shy isn’t the right word now that I think about it. She’s more orderly and reserved. Both because of her daddy issues and her mother, who puts some restraints on Emma’s personality.
“Even if Wyatt’s nearness had made her deliciously lightheaded for two or three seconds. Of course, that carefree feeling was exactly the kind of thing that got people like her dad into trouble-that caused them to hurt and disappoint each other. Emma never ever wanted to hurt or disappoint anyone.”
Her writing erotica seems cathartic for her. She can live within her fiction world, while her real life doesn’t provide that for her or does it?
“Had she now confused her book’s hero with the real man, who would surely be more flawed that the fictional character? Still. she felt like the heroine in her book now, walking beside Wyatt, her pulse kicking about, her skin prickly with heat.”
Oh but I forgot about Wyatt….
Well, how can one forget about Wyatt after reading this book? He has the sexiness, sweetness, and somewhat cute factor going on. By cute, I mean his random trivia’s that he mentions every now and then.
“Why do you know all this trivia?”
“I’m curious, and Google makes it easy to learn weird facts about everyday stuff.”
I seriously could not stop thinking about this book after I put it down. I kept thinking about the other characters as well. Like Wyatt’s brother Ryder. I sure hope he gets his own story.
If you like stories with character who have secrets and family issues, with friends who provide support systems, then this book and this series is for you!
