Sunday Post #21: It’s All About the Baking Frenzy

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

sunday-post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

I’ve been on a baking frenzy. I don’t know what it is about this time of year, but it certainly can’t be any good for my waist line. I guess because I was pretty good during the holidays, it’s come to me with a vengeance. If I have to blame someone, I guess I can blame my mom. LOL I made some apple banana bread in mini loaf pans (they can be frozen which is a good thing) and chocolate croissants in puff pastry. Holy moley, are those good.

Baking relaxes me but it’s hard to stop. I’m trying to pace myself. Does anyone else get in a baking mood?

On the book front, I finished a couple of books this week. Wrote my review for Starlight Bridge by Debbie Mason (will post it with the blog tour on March 10th). I still have to write a review for Sinful Scottish Laird by Julia London and that will be posted for the blog tour on March 7th).

I received two books this week. A review copy of The Romance Reader’s Guide to Life by Sharon Pywell (sounds super cool) and By Your Side by Kasie West (received through by Uppercase Box subscription).

Currently Reading

OMG I’m loving Lady Mechanika by Joe Benítez, a graphic steampunk novel. I’m also reading an ARC of Home at Last by Lily Everett.

Okay, I have *zero* sweet tooth but I have to say that your apple banana bread and chocolate croissants sound heavenly! Yum! I am not a baker (obviously, since I have no sweet tooth LOL) but I’m so impressed with people who are. I think it’s a great skill to have! I really enjoyed By Your Side! I love YA contemporary and Kasie West is so good at it. Her books are definitely on the clean/sweet side and when I’m in the mood for that kind of book she’s the one I reach for. The steampunk novel looks badass. Sometimes I like to bake. My daughter will get like you and make tons of cookies, treats, and bread for no reason. I love the goodie bags she brings me..lol

Yay baking! I’ve had banana bread, but never apple banana bread. Sounds interesting! And YUM CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS! I haven’t had one of those in SO LONG. Never tried to bake them myself though unless you count buying those Pilsbury crescent things and putting chocolate chips in them, haha.

Mechanika has such an awesome cover!

I wish I got into baking moods. I love eating baked things, but I’m too lazy to make them. I hope you enjoy your books!

Chocolate croissants?? STOP you’re making me hungry! 🙂 Maybe it’s the time of year? I know winter makes me want to eat lots of goodies ha ha.

Hope By Your Side is good, I hear good things about Kasie West, and Mechanika looks fun. Steampunk!

Yum! Sounds like you’ve been baking lots of good stuff. I like puff pastry and it goes well with many fillings. And banana bread is so good too. I am currently waiting for my coconut cake to cool down, so I can try a piece. Baking and cooking relaxes me too, so I can definitely relate to that. I hope you’ll have a good week!

I’ll come help you eat all your baked goods, Aleen 🙂 I love baking too, but I don’t have the time to do so as often as I’d like. My favorite to bake is cinnamon buns! And the chocolate croissants with puffy crust sound amazing!
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

I used to do a lot of baking and cooking. Even made my own Potato Chips. LOL Now I just don’t get the urge much. I do like eating though. LOL
