Sunday Post #22: The Blahs and Video Games

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Do you ever get into a blah phase? It hits me every so often that being lazy and good for nothing seem like a good idea. It could also be because my husbands parents have been having health problems lately. They’re in their 80s, and these past couple of weeks have been hectic. With how my year has started out, I’m so weary of it all that it has kind of weighed hard on my spirit.

Books help A LOT.

Keeps my mind off of things for a while.

But it just seems like it’s never ending lately. So insert the blahs and here I am. I’ve gotten back into playing video games and World of Final Fantasy has been a nice time filler. I’ve always loved Final Fantasy and RPGs, so it kind of makes me feel nostalgic.

On the book front, I finished reading Home at Last by Lily Everett (review is written and ready to go with blog tour), wrote my review for Sinful Scottish Laird (will post during blog tour). I started reading Lady Mechanika Vol. 2, and Meant to Be by Maggie McGinnis. So not a busy reading week for me.

Visit From The Mailbox Fairy

I received The Wrath & The Dawn by Renee Ahdieh and Red August by H.L. Brooks from my Ever After Box subscription. This month’s theme was Fairy Tale. I also won a copy of Her Hopes and Dreams by Terri Osburn. All new authors for me.

Currently Reading

Meant to Be is an ARC copy that I received via Netgalley. Also, via Netgalley, I could NOT resist downloading Lady Mechanika Vol. 2. Both volume 1 and volume 2 were instant downloads (no approval necessary at the time of this post.)

I really hope things are going better. That was last year for me. Every time we started recovering from one thing we’d be hit with another illness or death and man it wears you down for sure. Glad you’re finding some good escapes 🙂

Sorry to hear about your in-law’s health problems. That’s never easy to deal with and can be so stressful. As for having the blahs, yeah, I think it happens to most of us. Thankfully mine seem to be short-lived… hope yours is, too! I have The Wrath and the Dawn but have not read it yet. Hopefully soon, though!

Yep, I know the blahs well. Just kicked them out recently. I think the gloomy weather in winter brings a lot of it on. I hope your in-laws feel better. It’s tough to be ill in later years. I watch my mother closely. May those fabulous new books will perk up your mojo:)

I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s parents’ health problems :-/ Books help so much. I don’t think I’d be sane at this point without them after all the hard times they’ve helped me through. Video/computer games help too!

Congrats on the win, and the books you got in the box look interesting too 🙂 Enjoy all your new books and have a great week 🙂

Sorry to hear that things having been pretty blah lately. That definitely stinks. I suffer from anxiety and reading helps me de-stress a bit, and helps my brain focus on something else for a while. Hope you have a better week, and enjoy your new books!

The Wrath and the Dawn looks awesome. Oh yes, I know the Blahs intimately. I think winter play a role in it. Hopefully, they pass quickly. I am glad that reading helps

Sorry to hear about the blahs. I know the feeling all too well. Hopefully it passes soon! I used to love the turn based Final Fantasy games. I can’t do well when its not turned based because I panic and just start hitting all the buttons!!
Hope you have a good week!

Sorry to hear about your husband’s parents. Best wishes on the health issues. I hope Lady Mechanika #2 is good, and Red August looks like a trip.

I love RPG’s too but have never played Final Fantasy!
