Comparing Covers is a new feature on Lampshade Reader. I will showcase a book title that has multiple covers; from first editions to re-releases.
I wanted to do a Comparing Covers Harry Potter edition because, yes, it has a lot of variations, but also because I love the editions that were released in different countries. So, this time I’ll be putting up covers of editions released elsewhere. There also will be the US cover we are all familiar with-I just can’t ignore that, now can I?
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, also known as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in the UK, was released in 1997. I really can’t believe it’s been that long ago. I remember seeing it in my schools’ library. At this point though I can’t remember if I read it before seeing the movie. Did you read the books first before the movies?

US Version
I love that this cover encompasses most of the key elements from the story. The unicorn, snitch, castle, the 3 headed dog, the forest, it’s all kind of quirky looking and appealing.

I have the UK 1st edition on paperback and the US on kindle. You can never have too many copies, right?
Right! 🙂
They’re all so vibrant! So fun to see all the different versions 🙂
It’s totally fun. There are also some weird covers out there. LOL
The US and UK-2 are my favorites. Great post, I love seeing all the different covers.
Thanks Kimba. I liked those two as well. 🙂
In Australia, I’m pretty sure we only had the UK covers to chose from unless we purchased online. I love the new UK covers. As soon as they were released I bought myself a new box set. They’re always bringing out new ones now, fans and collectors must be absolutely broke by now.
I bet! The new UK covers are nice. 🙂
I kind of love the UK 2 edition. I am just reading Harry Potter (up to book 5) for the first time too and I love seeing all the covers!
There are so many more Grace! But I really enjoyed reading the books as well. It’s one of those instances where the book and the movie are good.
I never even realized how the US cover includes all the important stuff from the story in it! That’s pretty cool. But I still like the second UK cover the best 🙂
I really didn’t realize it til’ I really looked at it. 🙂
