Sunday Post #36: So Glad This Week’s Over

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

To say I had a bad week would be an understatement. Sunday brought the worst storm that I have seen. We had a tornado warning and even though I didn’t see one, I could have sworn that’s what hit us. It was scary, strong winds that brought a lot of damage. My neighbor’s huge cedar tree came crashing down on our side and completely obliterated part of our fence. Huge limbs fell down in our front yard and totally tore the electric wire right off its post.

I’m thankful that our house is alright, it could have been much worse. So with no electricity we braved traveling (the storm passed) and drove to my in-laws house. A lot of people weren’t so lucky as we were and trees had fallen on their houses. It was a mess all over. On Monday, we were going to spend another night so we decided to go back to our house to get more clothes and whatnot. Thankfully, we spotted the electric company driving around and the driver lent us his chainsaw to cut away the massive limb that had fallen. He came back later with reinforcements and restored our electricity. Yay for power! Boo for no internet–1 day without internet was driving me insane. Oh well. There you have it. My sorry excuse for a week that threw me off schedule for the most part.

I did get some reading done, so there’s that.

I’m almost done with this one. I liked it overall, but a little meh on the heroine.

This ties into review copies received as well.

Thanks to William Morrow and Avon.

I needed that this week and I couldn’t help but pick these two up when I was at Target.

Holy cow! Yeah that’s pretty dang scary. Glad yall are okay and made it out relatively unscathed! Hope this week goes a LOT better for ya.

Gosh i am glad you and your home are okay after the storm. How scary! I would say retail therapy is more than deserved in your case! Enjoy the new books!

Yikes sorry to hear about that storm! Glad you are okay and that the damage wasn’t worse. We had some thunderstorms roll through here too but nothing like that! And I feel for the people who had trees land on their houses…

Looking forward to seeing your Top Ten this week. Hope it’s a great week!

I’ve been ogling A Certain Age…going over to check it out.

Tornadoes are very scary! We’ve had small ones here…but our biggest things are earthquakes…and the worst one since I’ve been around here was 70 miles away. One of my sons lives in LA and experienced the huge one in 1994.

Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

What a terrible storm! Glad the damage was limited to the fence and downed limbs and that the house wasn’t damaged. But being without power and internet is still so inconvenient. We had similar storms this week and my parent’s neighborhood got the worst of it. Several homes with trees coming through the roof. Thankfully the damage at my parent’s house was limited to fence and downed limbs… like you. My husband was over there this morning assessing the damage and what will need to be done. Here’s hoping for a better week!

Oh man that sounds scary!! Glad your house and you were ok. I LOVED Cinder and love the cover for your other Target purchase. Hope you have a better week!

Good news that your house wasn’t damaged. We’ve had storms on and off all week and looks like more until Wednesday or so. Great haul this week. I hope you enjoy Cinder. It’s a favorite series of mine and I keep hoping they’ll make movies of the books.
