Comparing Covers #18: Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome to Comparing Covers where I will showcase a book title that has multiple covers; from first editions, re-releases, and international releases.

I’ve been a long time fan of Agatha Christie, especially of her little Belgian sleuth Hercule Poirot. One of my favorite of her stories is Murder on the Orient Express. What got me really excited about this one recently, is that they’ve re-made a movie of it and it’s coming out later this year. There are at least two other movies already on this book and I have my favorite, but I’m still interested on this upcoming version.

My favorite cover of this book is the one I found in a used bookstore. It’s actually a cover of the actors from the 1974 version of the movie; which I like, but is not my favorite version of the movie.

(For voting purposes I’m naming this one US-3)

Which cover did you vote for and why?

Ooh I love comparing covers. πŸ™‚ I like the Us-2 and US-1 covers for this one, probably in that order. Often I like a retro style cover, especially for mysteries or Christies, but in this case I like those two.

I love this feature! I like US 2 the best, but US 3 is a pretty great cover, too. The original title isn’t as catching as what they ultimately went with!

I picked US-1, but it was between that one and US-3! I just thought that 1 was very aesthetically pleasing, haha. #getsocial17

US-1 is the one that catches my eye.

I chose US 2. I found it to be the one that adequately fits the story.

Ooh I do like that first cover, but I had to go wth the Portuguese!

Grace @ Rebel Mommy Book Blog

I like the US1 the most!

I say French but none were amazing

Mary Kirkland

I picked US 2 because it felt more like it fit the title more than the others.

None of them really grab me but I guess the French cover would be my favorite.

I love the French cover. What a fun post!
