Sunday Post #44: Slow Book Progress & Rain

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

sunday-post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

Remember last week when I was remarking on the pleasant, non humid, weather? Well, I take all of that back! It’s been stormy off and on over here and in between that it’s been super humid. August is back with a vengeance!

I went on an Amazon shopping spree and got a lot of goodies for my bullet journal adventure. I’ll make a post on that  in next week or two.

One of my goodies included a beginners guide to Origami. Totally random, right? Well, when I was in 3rd grade I took a extra curricular class on Origami and I loved it. My kit came with a booklet, some paper, and a DVD. I can’t wait to share my little creations with you.

Okay, so I’m still reading this one. It’s kind of lagging for me and that’s a little disappointing. 🙁

Before I Knew by Jamie Beck

I got two books in the mail along with everything else. Also, another sneak peak at my bullet journal spread. LOL.

No review copies added to the pile this week. I believe I have enough to hold me over, for now.

I hate when a book is lagging! It’s like should I put it down or just push through. You tend to find other things to do.

Oh, wow. You are ambitious. I can’t even manage to take notes in Google docs when I’m reading! LOL

It’s disappointing when you can’t get into a book! Hope it picks up for you!! The origami book looks fun 🙂

I’m so with you on the weather. Last week we seemed to have had a *slight* break from the heat with temps in the mid/high 80’s instead of the 90’s. Still hot but not quite as miserable. Now it’s back in full force. The weekend was *so* hot and this week is more of the same. Ugh. So over summer. Can’t wait to see the journal supplies and the origami! I’ve always been fascinated by origami.

I love origami even though I’m not very good at it. A friend of mine taught me years ago but it’s been close to a year I haven’t done any new one. Blogging has taken all my free time but I’m missing it. Can’t wait to read your post. Anyway, sorry about the weather.

I remember Origami in school, vaguely. It was better than papier mache, which I hated lol. Hope you enjoy it, sounds fun. 🙂

Hope it cools down for you, we’ve been surprisingly mild here for August. I’m waiting for the humidity shoe to drop ha ha. Have a good week!

Yay for Amazon buying binges! I always love seeing peoples bullet journals. I have NO creativity and TERRIBLE handwriting, so bullet journaling is a big fat no for me, but I love peeking at everyones.
That origami book looks cool! You will have to show us pics of what you make!

Ugh humidity. Boo. Amazon is my happy place. I don’t do bullet journaling but am getting ready to order my planner for next year already. Hope you enjoy your new books and have a great week!!

Origami! What fun! And another bullet journaller. (Though I’m not much good at it, I confess.)

The weather got humid here as well, and stormy. Well, stormy is nothing new for Virginia in August. But at least it’s in been in the 80s instead of the high 90s!

Have a great week and enjoy playing with your origami book!

It was suuuuper hot last week here, but there was finally a storm last night! So the weather fixed itself and is now okay. Super glad about that!

I figured it out, Aleen!! You have two share sections on your post. The first, share the love which doesn’t always populate, and down at the bottom next to comments. Those are blank! Mystery solved.

I am a Prime babe. LOL Glad, you enjoyed your shopping spree and look forward to the post. I love the concept of bullet journals, but my fingers begin to hurt and my handwriting becomes almost illegible. Origami is cool, my son is wonderful at it.

I always loved the art of origami. Back in the day, before the internet, I had pen-pals. One of my pen pals was from Japan, and she would send me all sorts of awesome stuff. I just moved into my new home two weeks ago, and I found some of the origami she sent me (in the 80s, I apparently don’t throw anything away). It was really quite beautiful. Enjoy all your new stuff!

I loved origami when I was growing up. I haven’t tried it in a while, but I think it would be very fun and maybe relaxing. Can’t wait to see your creations. 🙂
