by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

As hurricane Harvey is on land now, we have started to get the rain. We were not on the direct path of the storm, but we are now getting the weather from that system. Nothing too bad as of right now as I type this, just a steady rain fall. The weather was really cool out too. Made me wonder what month it was and why it was like that as a tropical storm system was headed our way. I’m not complaining at all, I feel really bad for those directly affected.

I didn’t get that much reading done this week. But I have recently got into audiobooks. Why hadn’t I done that before? I gave in and signed up for Audible  couple of weeks ago. You get one credit for signing up and I used it on a buy one get one free deal and scooped up two books that looked interesting. I finished listening to Once Burned by Jeaniene Frost and I really enjoyed that one. I also snatched up a free book by James Patterson.

So, anybody hear about the latest drama going around in the YA book world? I’m interested to see if the “author” has anything to say about her role in the whole NYT Bestselling list scam. Check out the article here.

Technically, I’m still reading Chasing Christmas Eve by Jill Shalvis, but I’m currently listening to Wrong Number, Right Guy by Elle Casey; it was one of those audiobooks I mentioned that I got for free.

Wrong Number, Right Guy

Y’all I can’t remember if I mentioned that I received a review copy for The Girl in the Tower by Katherine Arden. I really enjoyed The Bear and the Nightingale and the publisher reached out to me about the second book. So yay!  I also accepted a review for Heart of Honor by Alexa Aston. I’ve read her other books, so it was a no brainer for me. 🙂

YAY for Audiobooks. I am curious to see what you think of Wrong Number Right Guy. I have been eying that! Glad you are all safe.

I hope that you are still safe from the hurricane. I feel for anyone who has been affected by it. I am so happy to hear that you have discovered audiobooks. I love being able to listen to a story ~ they just come to life that way. Enjoy your new books. I was lucky enough to get my hands on The Girl in the Tower as well.

Glad to hear Harvey wasn’t a direct hit for you. We have relatives in Texas and they lost power, for a few days now. Nice that you got the follow to The Bear and the Nightingale. I really need to read that. The video was oddly satisfying. Thanks for sharing! Have a great week.

So glad you’re not in the direct path of the storm, Aleen. The footage on the news has been heartbreaking. Hopefully you don’t get so much rain that flooding is an issue. I used to be so anti-audiobook. I was a total purist and didn’t consider that reading. I’ve done such a turn-around in the last year or two. Now I love my Audible membership. I don’t have a super long commute but I still enjoy listening on my drive. And sometimes my husband and I will listen to a book together in the evenings. I found myself mesmerized by… Read more »

Yummy video. LOL It’s good to hear you aren’t getting much from Harvey. It now looks like it will move off and come right back. Those poor people! Stay safe:)

My Sunday Post

I heard a little but about the scandal but don’t know any of the details. I’ll go read that article and catch up. 🙂 And hope you guys stay out of the path of any bad weather… I guess it’s pretty bad down there. Take care and have a good week!

Lover Of Romance

I didn’t really see much of the YA drama, but since I don’t read YA, I sometimes block out confusing tweets but thanks for letting me know what was going on. Kinda crazy. I live in Dallas, so we have just gotten cooler weather, so I am enjoying it. Thankfully I don’t live on the coast.

Heart of Honor sounds amazing, going to add that one to my wishlist. Hope you enjoy it.

I love audiobooks!!! I gave up my audible membership though. Now I just get them through the library via Overdrive and Hoopla! Its great!
I couldn’t believe it was that easy for that author to buy her way onto the NYT list. I’m glad someone caught it and that the NYT removed her book from the list, but the whole thing made me realize how useless best seller lists are! What a scam!
Have a great week!

I did read something about that YA drama…it is surreal to realize that some will do anything to have a “best seller,” even if the label is just wrong.

Enjoy your week…I didn’t get a lot of reading done, either. Here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES

Mary Kirkland

I hadn’t heard about the YA book drama but I read the article just now. That’s crazy.

Hopefully you stay safe and this storm passes by quickly.

very good to hear that you are not in the direct path of the storm! It looks like it did quiet a bit of damage. Sorry your reading has been slow. I think partly summer can do that to you. Hopefully it will pick up!!

Glad to hear you are not in the direct path of the storm. I have been watching coverage and have family there, so getting lots of update, and it looks terrible. I love Shalvis. She never disappoints me, and I am loving the new series.

Siran Toukhanian

I was wondering if you were safe.

I gointo audio books myself. I am not far wth the others as I wanted to be

Grace @ Rebel Mommy Book Blog

Glad you aren’t getting the full force of the weather. Aren’t audiobooks great? I heard about the YA drama on the radio so it made it pretty big as a story. Enjoy your books and have a great week!
