Sunday Post #55: It’s Been Awhile…

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

sunday-post

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

It’s been awhile since I posted one of these. In my defense, a lot of things happened over the course of the holidays. In my last Sunday Post I told you all about my Father in Law and how he was in the hospital with pneumonia. Well, his health continued to deteriorate after this diagnosis and further tests showed that there was a big mass on his kidney (he was also a dialysis patient) which might have been cancerous. He just did not get any better and his wish to come home was granted and he passed away on January 1st. His funeral was on Friday. I’m sorry that I’m being a little too personal, but I find that typing this helps ease my pain a little bit. For today is also the one year mark on my own Father’s passing. It’s been a tough year for me emotionally and I guess it all hit me again in December. I was on a sort of temporary hiatus on my blog except for the scheduled posts. I really did not feel like reading either, which means that I was really affected.

I believe that I can slowly start interacting again and writing posts. A new year means new beginnings and even though the start of this one wasn’t great, I want to make the rest of the year worth while. On a lighter note, the house that we’re building has cabinets now! WOOT! I didn’t take any pictures, but I will definitely post them once I have them. It’s all coming together, slowly but surely.

The English Wife by Lauren Willig

Haven’t read a Nora Roberts book in some time and decided to go audio. I’m enjoying this one so far, even though the heroine might be a tad annoying.

I wrapped up my year in books with two posts. Check them out below.

As of right now, I can’t really tell you what’s coming up. I’m kind of procrastiblogging again. (There might be a reoccurring blog post about that LOL). Hope everyone had a great holiday season and the happiest of new years to all of you!

I’m sorry to hear about your father-in-law! Glad to see you back though! I do think talking about it or sharing with others helps somehow. Best wishes to you and your family… and I hope the rest of 2018 is positive for you.

The English Wife sure has an amazing cover.

So sorry for your losses. It does help to type out the words, I have discovered over the years with various losses.

I am so sorry about your father-in-law’s passing, Aleen. And that it was a sad reminder of the loss of your own father. 🙁 Even though I know you’re still feeling the loss, I hope you’re starting to feel better and this this will be a good month for you.

I’m still laughing at your term procrastiblogging. LOL

You’re not being too personal, you’re allowed to talk about your life if you want, especially if it helps. I’m so sorry for loss, for both losses 🙁 *hug*

But yay for cabinets! You’ll def have to show us some pictures soon 🙂
