Welcome to Comparing Covers where I showcase a book title that has multiple covers; from first editions, re-releases, and international releases.
I’ve read and reviewed Gilded Cage a while ago (I can’t believe it’s been 2 years!) and when I found out that book 2 was already out, I wanted to re-feature this. (BTW, I’m hoping that the publisher grants my wish on NetGalley to review Tarnished City).
MAGIC RULES. WE SERVE.
In a darkly fantastical debut set in modern-day Britain, magic users control everything: wealth, politics, power—and you. If you’re not one of the ultimate one-percenters—the magical elite—you owe them ten years of service. Do those years when you’re old, and you’ll never get through them. Do them young, and you’ll never get over them.
This is the darkly decadent world of Gilded Cage. In its glittering milieu move the all-powerful Jardines and the everyday Hadleys. The families have only one thing in common: Each has three children. But their destinies entwine when one family enters the service of the other. They will all discover whether any magic is more powerful than the human spirit.
Have a quick ten years. . . .
Gilded Cage’s US book covers have 2 styles. One for the hardcover and one is for the paperback. While both are equally interesting, I think my favorite is the paperback edition. After seeing the cover for book 2, I like the overall theme of it better.
Look forward to what you think!
