Comparing Covers #36: 13 Ways to Midnight by Rue Volley

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome to Comparing Covers where I showcase a book title that has multiple covers; from first editions, re-releases, and international releases.

Cover lust alert! Just a little fyi, I saw this book featured somewhere on Facebook and immediately fell in love with the cover. It also had an intriguing title and my curiosity led me to look the book up. 13 Ways to Midnight by Rue Volley, had a blurb that made me want to one click it on Amazon. But since I had a cart going already, I decided to buy the paperback version just so I can have the pretty cover.

This book doesn’t have a lot of alternate covers, in fact just two. But I thought it would still make a nice comparison discussion. So I’m curious to read what you think. (Something tells me this will be a hands down decision…we’ll see).

Blurb:

You’ll never miss the sunlight until it’s gone. Sixteen-year-old Echo Navarri, daughter of world-famous archaeologists, Alice and Peter Navarri, had spent her life traveling from one expedition to the next as her parents unearthed lost civilizations. On their thirteenth dig, Midnight, Echo’s twin sister, disappears without a trace. This prompts a year-long search that leaves the family nearly broken. In an attempt to find some closure they reluctantly host a mock funeral for Midnight without ever recovering her remains. Nearing the one year anniversary of Midnight’s assumed death, Echo is sent to live with her eccentric Aunt Luna who is the caretaker of the centuries old Navarri Estate in Port Royal, Maine. Echo attempts to settle into her new life in Port Royal, but soon finds that she’s destined for adventure as the mystery of her family’s history, the sunless town, and its oddly intriguing people teeter on the supernatural.

Oh my gosh! This sounds AMAZING! I’m going to have to check it out.

I like the special edition best. ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s always so interesting seeing the different covers. I really like the createspace one.

Yes, that first one is just GORGEOUS! The others are nice too, but, in my opinion, they don’t hold a candle to that first one. They’re just not as eye-popping or artsy.

I love the vamptasy edition but really all of the covers are nice.

I voted for the first cover but I also really liked the second one. I might actually be more likely to read the second one ๐Ÿ™‚ I can’t wait to see what you think of this book!

I like them all, but the creative space cover is probably my favorite. It is one-clickable.

The Create Space cover is my favorite. But my tastes always fall towards the more darker, spooky or sinister type covers and that had that sort of feel to me.

First of all, I was surprised I like the first one, and then I was surprised that that’s the one everyone else who voted seems to have liked as well :DDD
