Sunday Post #64: Some Updates

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

It feels like forever since I did a Sunday Post, but really it’s only been a  week.

Remember that lost dog I mentioned? Well, she apparently got picked up by our lake patrolmen and they were able to find her owner. My post on their page never really got any traction, but I’m so glad that they found her home.

Speaking of homes, mine may be close to being finished. Hands crossed that it’s done by next month. Floors are going in and besides a “small” leak and a paint redo on the kitchen windows (this totally sucked btw–a leak in a brand new house is NOT cool) *sigh*, everything should be almost there.

In other news, more drama in the book world with that stupid #cockygate thing going on. I really am tired about author drama (one of the reasons why I don’t participate on FB anymore), but IMHO, she’s nuts what she’s doing.

On Wednesday, I lamented the fact that I’m a procrastiblogger. Let me know if you fit the criteria. LOL.

I’m glad the lost dog found her way home! I’m sure both dog and owners were thrilled. I missed the whole cockygate thing and then I looked it up but my eyes started rolling so hard that I had to stop. What a bunch of crazy nonsense! I’m intrigued by The Mermaid. The cover is gorgeous! Hope you’re having a great week!

Hope your home gets finished soon, glad to hear about the dog! I don’t know what #cockygate is so now I am curious and will have to google

Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction

I had to do a Google search on #cockygate. How utterly ridiculous. Sometimes you have to wonder about people.

Oh, by the way, after I commented on your procrastiblogger post, I went to go tweet it and found that your Twitter link doesn’t work (in your right sidebar). I found you by searching on Twitter, but I thought you might want to know that the link isn’t working!

I hope the house is finished soon. Good to hear the dog got home.

Have a great week!

Ronyell (a.k.a Rabbitearsblog)

Glad that the dog found a new home! I haven’t heard about the #cockygate thing, but I think I’ll be avoiding this author for awhile.

Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

That sucks about the leak but hopefully there won’t be any more issues.
I swear, I think that author’s real intent was just to garner publicity. Well, she’s done that but she might not have anticipated the backlash. Serves her right. Hope you have a great week!

Aj @ Read All The Things!

I’m glad the lost dog found its way home, and congrats on your house being almost finished. I saw a few #cockygate posts on Twitter, but I didn’t look at what they were. All the drama gets exhausting. Have a great week!

Carole @ Carole's Random Life in Books

I am happy to hear that the lost dog found its way home. I am such a sucker when it comes to dogs. Hey, leaks in your new house isn’t cool! Glad that they are getting it fixed but what a bummer that it happened. I actually got The Mermaid from First to Read but haven’t downloaded it yet. That whole #cockygate think is crazy. I know whose books I will never be buying. Have a great week!

Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer

Glad the dog is home. Yes, #cockygate was quite interesting. I feel really bad for the authors that panicked and changed their book titles. Hope the week ahead is an enjoyable one!

Mary Kirkland

I heard about the whole #cockygate which that author is completely nuts. She’s been added to my list of authors I’ll never read. Glad to hear they dog was reunited with its owner.

Glad the dog is okay! Yay for your house being done but boo that there is a leak in a brand new house! That is crazy!

Siran Toukhanian

I tried four or five times to just close my fb account only to open it again. Glad to hear about the dog.

That Mermaid cover is GORGEOUS!

Glad the lost dog made it safely home.

I just heard about #cockygate the other day. I just… why do people think they can put a copyright on regular words. (Like when the Titanic director wanted to claim the word “Avatar”. No dude, that’s a real word! You can not take it away from everyone else.)

I am absolutely a proclati-blogger. I’m trying to work on it though!

I saw the Cocky gate thing doing the rounds… The author sounds like a nutbug, imho. I’ve never read her and this has ensured I never will. Oh well…
Have a good week!

Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews

I’m glad the dog was found and brought by home! I would be frantic if one of my puppies disappeared on me 🙁 Yeah, #cockygate is ridiculous. And I don’t even get that anyone at a trademark office thought it was a good idea to grant tm for a single word. That has been around for ever. It helped me find some books by other authors with cocky in the title, though, and I bought them 😀 Crossing fingers and toes everything will get ready in your house – at least that leak was found before it became something big!… Read more »

Aw, I’m glad the lost pupper had a happy ending. I love the cover of The Mermaid, and the premise. Have a great week 🙂

#cockygate- apparently I’m out of the loop on THAT drama. Which is probably good, but I’ll have to loo it up. The joys of social media. 🙂 And glad to hear the dog was found! That’s awesome.

Hope your weekend is a good one!

Kristen @ Metaphors and Moonlight

I didn’t know about the lost dog, but that’s great they found her home! And great that your home is almost done! Although that does suck about the leak. Hopefully it’ll get fixed and not cause any more problems. I heard briefly about the #cockygate thing but wasn’t even sure what was going on. I just stay out of most Twitter drama.
