Sunday Post #66: I’m Back?

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

It’s been a little over a month since I wrote a Sunday Post. A lot has been happening in my life and I’ve become a little overwhelmed with everything.

On top of that, add the blogging blues/burnout, and you can almost hear the crickets chirping on my blog. I took an unannounced break from here (I fulfilled commitments but that’s about it). Sorry for not visiting your blogs, but I plan on rectifying that. I’ve still been reading, but I’ve been fulfilling other needs, like gaming. I plan (key word: plan) on adding a gamer section to my blog with reviews and whatnot.

I am a little behind on reviews as well. *sigh* Mostly, I think it’s because of the status of my new house. It’s really dragging me down. As of right now, it’s not getting worked on because my contractor is not focused. (It’s a little late in the game to bring in someone new.) The wood floors had to be returned twice because of a manufacturer defect and we had to pick out a whole new floor. But with all the things that are left to do, they could have still been working on our house. There are so many mistakes that we pointed out. The house should have been done months ago.

So, on top of work, the house, the blog, and every little thing, I’ve just been a little quiet. But I’m here now, just needed a little break. 😉

(Thanks to Edelweiss and Netgalley for the review copies).

I feel you. I’ve been gaming more lately too (and by gaming, I mean The Sims and Monster Prom lol) because I’ve been stressed and distracted, and my blogging has suffered a bit. But we need to do things for our mental health sometimes! I’m sorry you’re having so many issues with the house though :-/ Hopefully they’ll get a move on and get it done soon.

I can see why you have been distracted. I hope your contractor regains focus and things start progressing more steadily with your house soon. I think a gaming section would be fun. I am not a gamer (unless you count the Disney Emoji game on my phone which I do not thank my husband for introducing me to!), but my husband is, and so I like to at least know something when he talks games to me. 🙂 Your new books look good. I love the cover of Mechanika and Second chance at Two Love Lane sounds really good. I… Read more »

Glad to see you! A break definitely sounds needed. I’m sorry to hear about all the drama with the builder. How frustrating! Hopefully your new books will be a nice distraction. Hope you’re having a great week!

I was wondering where you were, I saw you on the link up and I was like oh Aleen’s back! Breaks are good though, and yeah burnout- it is real. And sorry to hear about the builder issues- that would be really stressful seems like.

I do like when bloggers cover games so your gamer section sounds good!

Glad to see you back! Hopefully things will get better with your house.

Sometimes you just need a break. I’ve taken blog breaks as well.

Oh, man. Yes, When your house is in disarray, it certainly carries over to other areas of your life, doesn’t it? I hope your contractor gets going soon!

A lot of bloggers are experiencing burnout right now. I have to wonder if it’s the amount of ARCs coming at us, sometimes. It’s fun getting them, but sometimes when it comes time to read them, it feels like reading for obligation instead of fun. Just throwing some thoughts out there! LOL
