Sunday Post #69: I Didn’t Forget

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

I didn’t forget about the Sunday Post. It’s always been on my mind, but I was kind of hit with the blogging blues for a few months. Hit hard. I’m sure there are some of you out there who have experienced this.

One of the main things that has brought me down is how long my house is taking in being built. It’s been over a year and half now, and frankly I’m so tired of it. Good news is that it’s reeeallly close to being done. Moving is going to take up a lot of my time too, so I’m not actually going to be moved in until next year probably.

Anyways, I played around with my blog again. I changed the homepage and found a setting in my theme to split it up into sections which I really like. I also added the wpdiscuz plugin for comments and I’m liking that better as well. Haven’t decided if I want to add the emoticon feature to it or not, would you use it if I did?

I’ve done some reading, and I’ve even gotten to read books off my TBR. How awesome is that? I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t really want to read ARCs that have a specific deadline anymore (i.e. for book tours). I don’t want to force myself to read any book. It just ends up feeling like homework to me. I have one coming up this month and after that…nada. I’m still going to take ARCs but I’ll read them at my own leisure.

I won this Manga from Goodreads and I’m totally excited to read it. Actually, it’s the first Manga that I’ve won.

Sunday Post Headers Currently Playing

I really got into playing video games again and I’m beefing up my repertoire so I can post some reviews. If you’re a gamer, friend me on Steam. I’m playing The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky. It’s a RPG (role playing game), my go-to genre.

Yay for being back, but I’m sorry your house is taking so long to be built. I hope it’s not too far into the new year before you get to move in! It will be SO worth it, I’m sure. I don’t take too many ARCs, because I know that life gets in the way and I don’t always have time to read them all by their due dates (or at least the month they come out if it’s not for a tour) and I want to read more of the books I already own.

Tanya @ Girl Plus Books

Nice to see a Sunday Post from you! 🙂 I’m so surprised to hear that the house isn’t complete! I would have figured you were long since moved in. Is it issues with the contractor? Frustrating any way you look at it. 🙁 I basically quit blog tours earlier this year and have scaled waaay back on arcs. I just wanted to go back to reading what I wanted, when I wanted. No schedules, no pressure. And I love reading my own books again! 🙂

I’m very impatient too. I’m sure you’ll feel much better once you can move into your new house.

I love moving and I hate moving. I love it because it’s a chance to clean and organize everything and I think that is fun. But I hate how much work it is and how much time it takes. I hope you really enjoy your new home.

Enjoy your reading week! Anne – Books of My Heart

I would use the emojicon feature. I got into gaming myself. I am playing Batman Arkham Knight on PS4, but there is one part that I can’t get past.

I stopped taking ARCs too. I had hoped it would help me to read the paper backs I have, but I have been slow about that as well.

I wish you could take some break from your house work as well as your blog, so that you can get rid of those blues and come back all refreshed. I know it is difficult, but do take time for self care!

I’ve tried to back off tour ARCs a bit. I find I don’t have time to read my wants or my favorite authors.

Sorry your house is taking so long! That is such a bummer. I too have stepped almost entirely away from book tours and hard deadlines. It was crushing my love of reading.
Have a great week!

Yes, blogging blues is what it should be called and I’ve been having it too. More like blogging plague, cause it seems so many of us are having it! I am also using wpdiscuz, it’s pretty cool and I like it too. it’s so customizable!

Nicci @ Sunny Buzzy Books

I feel your pain over housebuilding/moving although you’ve waited far longer than I did. We started the process of buying a new build (that hadn’t been built yet) last November and we got our keys October 19h. It’s a long slog but it feels nice now we’re in. Hang in there, it’ll be worth it!

Glad to see you back!

Ah I see another one who is back today after a chronic case of blogger blues! Re your questions, yes! I love emoticons!

Glad you’re back! And sorry to hear about the house taking so long. Hopefully it gets done soon! And I’m the same way with deadlines- I like to read what I want when I want, so taking ARC’s on a deadline wouldn’t work for me, generally speaking. I like to keep it casual. 🙂

Have a great weekend.

Glad to hear you’re so handy with blogs. I may need you to swing by and give me some much needed tips. Have a great week!
