The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

I’ve had a hard week. Last Sunday, my senior cat Frida had a stroke. We noticed something was wrong when her eyes wouldn’t stop moving back and forth and her head was tilting to the side. We immediately took her to the E.R.

There was a moment where we thought that this might be the end for her, but the E.R. we took her to handled it well. They did all that was recommended for cats that have strokes (I did frantically look it up–honestly, the outcome scared the crap out of me). She received antibiotics, steroids, and fluids. We also found out that she went completely blind. It was all very devastating.

After we brought her home, we isolated her from our other cat and dog, and just babied her. She couldn’t really walk without falling over to one side, nor go to the bathroom by herself or eat. We helped her with everything.

6 days later, I’m happy to say that she pulled through. She’s doing everything by herself again. Even though she’s still a little wobbly on her feet, she is going up and down the stairs! I was so happy to see that. She is blind, but it’s amazing how she knows where everything is and how she navigates tentatively. Frida still has a slight head tilt but I read that those symptoms might go away in a month or so.

Yeah, so I’ve been a stressed out mess, but I’m also grateful that we didn’t do anything rash with our decisions.  I didn’t really document her symptoms with pictures  but here is Frida pre-stroke.

No real changes to my reading ( I really didn’t do much).

OMG that freaked me out totally. Hope she is doing better now and I am glad you guys didn’t give up. This is my worst fear when it comes to pets.

Oh gosh, I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. I’m glad that you were able to help her and she’s starting to do better. That’s awful she’s blind, but it’s good that she’s able to navigate fairly well! I’m sure things will look up as she continues to heal.

Oh I’m so sorry to hear about your cat! But thank goodness she is doing better- good for her! And that she’s moving around (including steps) even without her eyesight- that’s amazing! Wishing her all the best going forward. 🙂

Hope you have a good week.

I am sorry about your cat. It is good that she can do somethings on her own.
