Sunday Post #72: Shopping to Soothe the Soul

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Welcome back to the Sunday Post! Sit back, kick up your feet, and relax!

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

I feel kind of bummed that I can’t decorate for Christmas this year. I’ve practically packed away everything amid this move and it really doesn’t feel like the Holidays to me. Except…

The shopping. Holy cow, I think I splurged a wee bit, but it really does help cheer me up. (No, I’m not a shopaholic LOL). I bought myself a Nintendo Switch because of the cool Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals going on. That also means that I have to buy a game to go with it. Ha!

I’ve bought some books, because book therapy also works wonders. Also, we’re thinking about getting an Instant Pot. Does anyone have one of those? Curious if it’s worth it.

Update on Frida: She’s doing a lot better. Her head still tilts to one side, but her balance is almost back to normal. I think she’s compensated on her stance a little bit. She’ll never be the same, but she’s a fighter for sure. (See Sunday Post #71 for what happened). Her blindness is where she has shown great perseverance. Although she still bumps into things, it seems like she has built a map in her mind of exactly where everything belongs. I’ve tested the theory out and moved some things around and she still navigates pretty well. I’m so happy about that because once we move, everything is going to be different for her.

It’s been awhile since I read a Historical Romance, and this one is good so far. I love anything Victorian so that’s a plus.

Sunday Post Headers Currently Playing

I’m currently re-playing a classic. They re-released Final Fantasy X and X-2 as an HD remaster and I just had to get it. Even though I’ve played these games multiple times, it’s fun to actually go in and try to attain all the achievements possible. I’m playing this on Steam. Final Fantasy is my all time favorite video game series. The storylines are usually what draw me in.

Good luck with the move. I love the chance to reorganize but it’s so much work. I actually would welcome a year of not decorating. I’d rather cook great food instead. Or buy / read more books. Choose your priorities and enjoy them! Anne – Books of My Heart

Yay for some fun items for yourself. My sister in law has an instant pot and likes it, and my sister just got one. Do you use Ebates when you shop online? Most shops will give you cash back, so it always makes me feel better when doing some retail therapy. LOL If you don’t, I’d be happy to send you my affiliate link to sign up; just shoot me an email!

I’m so glad that Frida is doing okay and navigating well. That’s wonderful.

I’m all for retail therapy! 🙂 I did a bit of that myself yesterday.

Maybe you could just buy a few fresh poinsettia’s to place around the house since you can’t decorate. Those are always so festive!

I am glad Frida is doing better. And an occasional splurge is good for mental health, right? At least that is what I tell myself.

Glad to hear Frida is doing well.

I’m sure you’ll find many ways to enjoy the holidays without decorations. I’m glad Frida is doing better! Enjoy your Nintendo Switch! I’ve always wanted one of those.

I know that you’ll find a way to bring the holidays to you. Love the book recs and that you’re so into fantasy. #sunday post https://theglobaldig.blogspot.com

I used to LOVE Final Fantasy. I played all the time when I was in college. I was better at it when it was turn based fighting (I don’t do well under pressure!).
Enjoy your switch! My husband just got one as well!

Sorry to hear you’re not able to get out the Christmas decorations. I hope you’re still able to enjoy the holidays though. 😉
I’m glad Frida is doing well.
I love the look of your current read. I’ll have to check that one out. 😉
Have a great week and happy reading!

Glad Frida is doing well. Poor thing! But she sounds like she’s not letting it get her down. Good for her. And congrats on the Switch! I need to get one of those lol. I think shopping does get one in the mood, with all the Christmas tunes and decorations at all the stores!

I am getting the urge to splurge too. LOL So many deals right now to grab. It’s good to hear Frida is doing better. My Chow went blind and she always amazed me at how well she did. She even knew where I hung her leash and would go make it rattle to let me know she was ready for a walk. She was fearless.

Glad Frieda is doing better despite the troubles. We usually decorate Thanksgiving weekend but I haven’t even pulled boxes out. We’ve been so worried with helping a loved one that when I gave down time I either sleep or attempt to read. Plus Mr. Caffeinated and I have Strep Throat. Good luck with the move. Enjoy your new toys. Hugs.
