It Happened on the Blog: Year Wrap Up 2019

by Aleen @ Lampshade Reader

Shady Talk Banner it happened on the blog-2019

With another year approaching it’s climax, I can’t help but wonder, as always, where it went. To say that years, days, weeks, and months, go by quickly is an understatement. I feel like my blogging has definitely lagged a bit this year. Whether it was from burn out or depression (yes, I think I admit to this), it just wasn’t appealing to me. Promises to myself can be made, but honestly, I’m not sure if this won’t continue to happen. Sorry to all my blogging buddies that I didn’t visit, surely you must understand how I feel.  But enough of the self loathing and melancholy.

Now on a lighter note…

I did complete my Goodreads reading challenge and went a little bit past it too. There are a few books that I haven’t reviewed yet, so I’ll leave those for next year, I think.

Also, not all my stats from my blog are going to reflect what I actually completed, since I didn’t write too many posts this year.

My new-ish kitten Toodles is thriving, she’s now over 10 pounds! I can’t believe it. When we rescued her she was a mere 1 lb 9 oz! Here’s a picture of her when we got her:

You can read about her ordeals here:

Oh! and this happened to me on Twitter:

Twitter record

I got 1.2K likes on my post! Granted, I piggy backed off a trending hashtag and it wasn’t book related, but still. I think now it’s up to 1.3K. Probably peaked right here. LMAO.

Congrats on surpassing your Goodreads goal! My reading life had its ups and downs as life happened, but I surpassed my original Goodreads goal. Your kitten is adorable!

Congratulations on meeting your Goodreads goal!

My year was similar. Particularly near the end of the year I was feeling really depressed, and my reading year reflected that. Hopefully this year will be better.

Thanks for sharing! Love the pic of the kitty. 🙂

Aw, I’m glad your new kitten is doing so well. Depression and burnout are all tough to deal with, so no worries! I hope that 2020 is a better year for you, whether you blog tons or not!!

I suffer from depression all the time, some days are worst than others. Last year I took an entire month off of social media so I do understand how keeping up with the blog can be hard at times. I hope this year is a better one for you.

Hooray for reaching your Goodreads goal! I purposely lowball mine somewhat (I think I set it at about 60) and then I meet and and carry on. I don’t participate in any other challenges. I prefer to read what I want, when I want without try to meet certain goals or read for certain prompts. It take s the fun out of reading for me.
